I have someone on the Mustang forum argueing, saying that a 4.6 PI head is the SAME thing as a 5.4 PI head......?

I think I read some where that they are the same heads, but the intake manifold isn't interchangeable.

They are the same but the intakes won't interchange because of the different block deck heights. It's just like the 302/351 Windsors.

There right.
Only difference would be the valve covers.R and W heads have different amount of bolts to hold them on.

Right!

C/P From Sullivan~

The 4.6L SOHC and the 5.4L SOHC use the same basic heads. The difference in these heads is not whether they were installed on a 5.4L or 4.6L, but whether the engine was built in the Windsor plant or the Romeo plant. The Windsor heads use 14 bolts for the valve covers while the Romeo engines use 11. That is the easiest way to tell them apart but there are a lot of other differences. The two heads share the same basic archetecture but thats about it. Chambers and port dimensions are the same for these 2 heads.

as phil and jbrew have already stated you are wrong and the other guy is right regarding the 16 valve motors

the 32 valve heads are different due to the navi head having larger intake ports than it's 4.6 counterpart - which is where you may have been mislead or misunderstood

so no matter what, I would have to get 5.4 heads cause no intake will work with the 4.6 heads

Is that a question or a statement?
You cant put a 4.6 intake on a 5.4 block but you can put 4.6 or 5.4 heads on your 5.4 block. The intake will bolt up just the same.

a 5.4 intake will bolt onto the heads on a 5.4 block. a 4.6 intake will bolt onto the heads on a 4.6 block.

If you have PI heads you want a PI intake.
PI is better.
