Can I replace a 4.6L with a 5.4L in my 98 F150

I have a super cab 98 4x4 F150 that has a blown head gasket and I'm considering putting a whole new engine in from the juck yard ...would a 5.4L fit? and would the wiring match up to whats on my firewall? Has anyone done this before and was it hard?? thanks..

a 5.4 will bolt right in, you'll have to get a custom tune done though to run the larger displacement.

if you can find a complete engine with wiring harness it'l be a direct plug-N-play swap and the perfect time to toss on long tube headers, mild cams and larger injectors.

Yes you can do it. yes there are other bits and pieces to work out: exhaust downpipes lengthened, add a threaded hole for a coolant sensor, maybe extend a couple wires. there a re a few write ups on this here, use the search feature. not hard to do at all, as i have done it and added comp cams to it while it was out of the truck.

You just did the cams by itself? Do you got videos of how it sounds, and how was the hp gains? I want to do that to mine but im affraid it will break something or i will do it wrong. My engine is sitting outside the truck on my garage floor so i would have to say its the best time aswell.

No vids or audio. lope on the cams is definately better than stock, makes it sound like a different engine altogether. the cams were comp 102500 xe262ah pi specific cams, check the website for specs. I have a 02 navi motor that i am putting together and plan to order the same series in dohc fo that to put in my truck. Don't know about hp gains as it wasn't dyno'd before and after, but with the weight and speed in the 1/8 mile it looks to be pushing around 280 to 290hp.

also save up for some ported heads to install before you put the motor in, you will be much happier.
