Dealer Service - Rough running engine @ 1100 rpm
So, I took my 2005 f-150 5.4 lariat into the dealer for what I believed was a "miss" at around 1100rpm. The truck as 28k on it....
It is quite noticeable when in park (or neutral), and the service writer was surprised to feel it as well.... It is like a stumbing of the engine... the shaking is quite noticable in the cab. I suspected injectors, or a bad COP.
So, the dealer had the truck all day, called me at 5pm and told me 'it was normal'. According to ford, it is "by design" and the condition is known as 'run up' (their terminology).
!@#$%
My gut is telling me that this is NOT normal, as NONE of the other F-150 5.4's on the lot exhibit the same issue...
Are there any folks that can shed some light about 'run up'? Or am I getting the run around?

... even more disturbing
It appears that TSB 18449 doesn't exist anymore.... or has been superceded/eliminated.
There is NO TSB on motorcraft.com associated with an '04/'05 F-150 with any reference to 'neutral run up'.
I am quite confused. Does anyone have access to the resource(s) to pull TSB 18449 from their archives.
Neither alldata or motorcraft.com appear to have any information about it, and I am getting rather confused.

That's not a TSB, it's a special service message, and an old one at that. SSMs are kinda like TSB-lites.
Neutral run up has become kind of an obsolete test. Yeah, it'll show you vibrations, but it'll show them to you at conditions folks typically don't operate their vehicles at; there's no reason for the engine to be at 1100 rpm in park or neutral.
Besides, 5.4 3Vs idle and run a little rough. That's just the way they are.
