alright guys.. as of now the motor is pulled and on an engine stand..the pull wasnt to bad.. i was surpised that it came out with the longtubes on, the condensor in and all pulleys..now while we were tearin the motor apart..theres this part(sorry no pics yet) that was just inside the front timing cover on the bottom looks like a gear..but its not its where the keyway is for the crank..whats the name of it..hopefully i described it good enough for you..the keyway is broke and i need to replace the thin gear like part..also that part looks like it has teeth that are bent at a perfect angle...AND ALSO the actual key was broke..

crank position trigger wheel?

FYI, the one you mentioned is the thinner one, i believe it is also for the later years of the trigger wheel. yes this matters.

yeah its the trigger wheel, crank trigger wheel. if its the thin one with curved teeth on top its the thinner version, which if memory serves me correct, is the later version of the trigger wheel.

no, but im sure someone with a few beers can provide a theory.

my only question is there a fracture in it anywhere? somehow it had to get play in it in the first place to continue thrashing itself.
