All components may have been engineered for it and some may make it, but many do not. Engineering and actual reality are often different. Sometimes, engineers make mistakes and quite often manufacturers use inferior materials. Otherwise, there would not be recalls, bearing failure at 40,000 miles, etc.

F150 durability and relability of 5L V8
Thank you all for the timely feedback.
I agree Ford has the best truck.
I'm planning to get the 2012 F150 XLT, 4X4, 5L V8, single cab with the trailer towing package and have it loaded up with almost all of the other optional features. I really happy about the availability of the electronic activated locking rear differential. I have also decided to choose the classy flame blue color!

FWIW my 4.6L truck has 197k on it and still runs fine.

Like many, I have had Ford engines run a lot longer with no issues. Why is the 5.0, and maybe others, only being engineered for 150K? I put that on in 4 years. If it is deemed worn out, my trade-in value is going to be worth far less.

You could look at it that way, or this, -Fords 10th generation modular motors and trucks can easily run and look great for 300,000 miles plus. They're only making them better. The key is the consumer/vehicle owners. If they're taken care of, they'll go the distance and return the favor.
And that's the way it is in general.
Yes there was a few bugs to work out in the past and there's bound to be more in the future, no one can get away from that. Fords still on top IMO.
