Replace Fuel Line

Trying to find a good thread to post this question under so hopefully this doesn't **** anyone off. I've got a '97 4.6L F-150 thats got a broken fuel line. Theres a break in the line right after the fuel filter on the way to the engine. It's leaking pretty bad and I was wondering if anyone's had experience with repairing or replacing a fuel line.

It looks like a real bear of a job for me to replace it myself so I was planning on taking it in. Anyone know how much this would cost for a garage to replace? If the rest of the line is alright can it be patched?

Thanks for your help.

I can only give you a hint.

When I changed my '04, F-150 fuel filer I broke the top of the blue retainer clip on my gas line at the inlet end of my fuel filter. I attempted to buy only that section of the gas line, about a foot long, that would contain a new blue clip. My local Ford Dealership parts guy took pains to computer up what I wanted. It ended up that I would have to purchase the complete gas and vapor lines (Part #9C052) from gas tank to fuel filter, $136.00. Since my blue clip was only partially borken and still aided in griping my fuel filter inlet tube I passed on the purchase of the fuel/vapor lines.

I suspect you may run into the same over-buy headache I did.

to start off, im pissed you posted this here. j/k this is the right place. you have 2 options. Get the hard line adapter fittings from summit and cut the part out that leaks then connect the fittings, or replace the whole line.

Just cut out the bad part. Get a piece of rubber gas lie and two small clamps.
the rest is easy

Tumba, you are talking out of your @$$ here..........gotta call ya on that one.

If the use of rubber hose and clamps was safe, you think Ford would use those stinking quick disconnects on the fuel filter? Nope, they'd do it the old way - rubber hoses and clamps. Too much pressure.

There is fuel line that can hold that presure. Also hydrolic hoses are reenforced rubber some even with clamps
