Sea Foam

Under much recommendation I bought some Sea Foam to put in my truck. It's a '98 F150 4.6 with almost 90,000 miles. I love this damn truck, it's sick. Anyway, has anyone ever put Sea Foam directly into a intake vacuum line? Did it work? Would you all recommend? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Timbo

I have never done it but on the LEXUS site members there use it religously, from what I understand be prepared for a lot of smoke out he tail pipe for the initial addition of the seafoam... one member has posted pictures, looked like a desiel locomotive. But it supposidly really does clean the valves and combustion chambers as well as the intake.

I've done it both through the vacuum line and the gas, and recommend both. If added through the vacuum line i'd wait closer to 2-3 hours instead of the 15min they say on the bottle before starting up again. Be prepared for a large smoke show, make sure house windows aren't open!

The directions are a little vague...so do I pour the sea foam into the vacuum tube...and then rush to shut it off? Do I let it idle a moment and then shut it off? Any further help would be appreciated. Thanks

I think that saying something is 'sick' is like saying it's awesome.

you can stand there and hold the bottle to the hose yourself, the motor will try to stall while taking in the treatment. I've heard two different ways not sure which is the best or most correct.
1. let the motor stall and shut itself down
2. bring the motor just before it stalls then remove the vac line from the bottle and manually turn the key to shut off

I usually have a friend hold the bottle to the hose and am gently on the throttle keeping the rpms constant to draw in max ammount of seafoam. Use about 1/2 to 2/3 of the bottle this way and put the rest in one of the fuel tanks. Start her up 3-5 hours later, try to keep the rpms around 2,000-2,500 **make sure to watch temp guage!** because it is tempting to give it more gas to put out more smoke but she'll heat up real quick!
