97 4.6 Ticking while stopped in Drive or Reverse. Goes away in Park & Neutral

The heading pretty much says it all.

When the truck is at idle speeds & at a complete stop in drive (D,1,2) or reverse you can hear a tick and ting type of random noises. Sounds more like a ting. Have to listen for it when I'm in the cab but is noticed standing outside the truck while it's in gear.

Not really a rythmical noise like if a rod was knocking and not loud and clattering. Kinda random metallic sounding pops and tings.

Engine cooled for about an hour. Started it up and didn't hear noise until I drove it down the street for 5 or so minutes and parked it. It then came back.

Hoping to catch it early in case it's something that will worsen with time.

Things to note (but I doubt matter):
Use 5w30 Mobil 1 Synthetic and Wix (Napa Gold) Oil Filter
Truck has 95,000 miles w/ original plugs and wires
Stillen open air intake system w/ K&N Filter
Don't go mudding or off roading

I want to thank everyone in advance for their knowledge and time. Your help is appreciated.

its possible its your exhaust manifolds leaking. check all the studs. they are notorious for breaking off and causing that annoying ticking sound.
