97 4.6L F150 running rough

I have had this problem and am not sure what else to do. I changed all plugs, cleaned the MAF, and also cleaned the idle control valve as this had occured before, and cleaning the valve seemed to help. It used to stall when I came to a stop. Heres what the truck does now

When I am at a stop, and attempt to accelerate, the truck will hesitate and sometimes stall and as I am accelerating the truck feels like it is hesitating until I get up to speed. I also have an electrical smell after driving it for awhile. Could it be the coil packs or the idle control valve or something else??

Thanks alot.

Did you take a small screw driver and make sure the mechanisms free and moving inside ? Like move that bottom piece back and forth and work in some WD 40 ?

No, I just sprayed some carb cleaner in there, let it sit, sprayed it out again, let dry and reinstall.

What do you think the electrical smell is??

I doubt that helped much, besides I wouldn't let carb cleaner sit in there, that will ruin it.. If you use that stuff you have to follow up imediatly with a couple shotes of compressed air - to get it out of there before it does damage to the seals and plastics..

Electrical Problem?

Did you happen to check the elecrtical output from the PCM or the resistance of the IAC valve? There are some specific values that I can't remember off the top of my head, but if the plug from the PCM or the resistance found on the unplugged IAC valve doesn't fall in within the range, you might just need to buy a new IAC valve.

Careful with the carb cleaner in the valve...the residue will ruin it in short order

Well, here is an update. I changed spark plugs and the idle control valve. The Truck runs much better but I still have a stalling problem.

When I start the truck, starts fine. Back out of the drive, throw it into drive and go. When I come to a stop, the engine idles fine. However, when I attempt to go and step on the gas, the engine will hesitate and stall. Then, I restart engine and drive the rest of the way OK and most of the time will not have another stalling problem. A couple of times it has happened more than once in the same trip.

No I have not changed the plug wires.

Any suggestions??

BTW, what is the TPS sensor and where is it located??

What is the PCM and where is that located??
