I have a 1996 f150 4.9L 300 ci inline six. The power steering is loud during turning and even during idle. There are no visible air bubbles in the fluid. Is there anything I can do to repair this or is it normal? I have went to the extent of putting Lucas in the pump.

 

Ford PS pumps are commonly pretty loud. I changed my fluid to syntenic and it helped quiet it down.

 

I have flushed the power steering pump with 3 QTS of Moble 1 ATF and added Lucas again. It is a little quiter but a guy at work has the same truck and his is quite. Thanks for the reply
