I would go with the diesel, it will last you longer and probably get you better gas mileage. Plus, here in Texas diesel fuel cost less that gas.

diesel's more expensive here in Austin.... but the F-150 im talking about, has a peopane tank in the bed. it can run off either propane OR gasoline. thought that was pretty cool

Not sure about mileage, but I'm sure overall costs are quite a bit cheaper in the 351 equipped f-150. I'm willing to bet the 351 gets better mileage, the 7.3 I drove wasn't too great.

How big is the propane tank?

Normanlly propane on a diesel is used to INCREASE the mileage, not sure if the engine can run on propane alone.

I'm in Georgetown, TX and last time I got gas diesel was 1 or 2 cents less that reg unleaded, but that was about 1 or 2 weeks ago. Anyway, I'd probably go with the F-150 due to you saying the diesel wasn't all that great. Plus, you have the option of the gas or propane, and maybe a deducton on you taxes for having a "alternate fuel" vehical...

I was in Georgetown yesturday. Diesel was 1 or 2 cents cheaper than Super Unleaded, but 12 to 17 cents higher than unleaded. I haven't seen diesel cheaper than unleaded in a year and a half.

to echo others, texas is a big state, diesel prices might spread moreso within the state than across 4-5 smaller states

i haven't seen diesel cheaper than gas in a long time where i drive

maintanance on the diesel will be more costly. I think the 7.3 takes 12-14 quarts of oil when you change it. 180k is high milage for the 351... 250k on the 7.3 is still mid milage. Your call on what you like.

here in south 'bama diesel averages 5-10 cents less per gallon than regular 87octane. I run strate 93 in my truck which is ~$2.50 a gallon and get 14.5MPG mixed hwy/city on a 5.4l Pig.
