no power in 2nd gear
Well I need 1 of the brains of the site to give me some idea's of my power loss. Ford replaced the injectors on the even numbered cylinders on my truck and now at WOT when truck shifts to second it just falls on it's face. It is still running of course but has no pulling power. has had fuel filter changed (at 30,000) and I have 43,000 miles on it now. This truck has been a weak sissy since it was new but Ford dealer keeps working on it. any idea's would be appreciated.

Why did they replace those injectors, and not all?
I assume your truck's an auto, ordinarily (especially on an older unit) I'd assume there was a vacuum problem in terms of the shifting (does it appear to shift at the correct speed?)
Maybe they reconnected something wrong - I assume electronics have supplanted vacuum sensing....
Maybe it's time to talk to the head of the dealership you're going to or even Ford, and ask them to make something happen.

I asked them why only 4 injectors and got the run around. truck has been in the shop 26 times now for warranty work, and twice since the 36,000 ran out. It falls under arkansas lemon laws but I like my truck,( thanks for the flowers on how my truck looks) they have replaced front end, brakes, cam phasers, air conditioning, vaccum on 4 wheel drive, well you get the picture. any help would be appreciated. ford says evrything checks out according to the puter, but mechanic says it has a problem but he cannot fix what won't show up as a trouble code. also i have talked to ford in detroit and some big wig in Atlanta. said no code no fix.,

A 5.4 w/no pulling power? That is a serious defect .. Mann, I'de go thru it myself - everything , maintenance it good - Do a vac leakdown test to help you figure it out..Do all the little stuuf first - Cleaning the MAF can give it new life if its dirty enough..
They say a 171-174 lean codes are suppose to indicate a dirty MAF as the number one reason for those codes in the book .. I say this because that has never played true. I've never seen a dirty MAF throw a code?? Those codes usually point to a vac leak .
I also bring this up because I remember cleaning my MAF and how much better it ran after doing so for the first time - I didn't have any codes , it just wasn't running well - So give that a try..
Good luck
