Question Coolant Leak?

Hello wise ones,

I have a 1993 F-150, with a 5.0 liter engine. It currently has approx. 130,000 miles on it, and until recently it hasn't given me any major problems. Just a couple of days ago I noticed coolant on the ground beneath the engine. I figured I'd change the heater hoses because they looked a bit worn. After this was completed, I began to refill the radiator with coolant, and I heard the surprising sound of liquid splashing onto the concrete. I immediately fell to the ground to get a look-see and I saw the coolant running from a hole under the engine right above my starter. ( on the passenger side) What is this hole? Why is it there? How do I repair this? And why is my wife mad at me for not knowing?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Its a freeze plug, get one at the parts store and they will show you how to put it in or buy the chilton manual.

I highly recommend the Haynes (PN36058 ~$14) over Chilton's.
