Swap out Windsor for Romeo

I have a 97 f150 and I was interested in swapping my windsor for a romeo. Only because the parts are so much cheaper and I have to replace the engine neways......Do you have to do any wiring?

I think it'd be a nightmare. But that's just me. Besides the 97' romeo motors didn't have the same kind of ignition. I don't know how you would go about converting them.... I wouldn't do it. Why would you want a smaller motor anyway?

It's not that bad. I did it. What are you concerned about?

So are you going from a 5.4 Windsor to a 4.6 Romeo. Or a 4.6 Windsor to a 4.6 Romeo? I believe there were 4.6 Windsors put in F150s but don't know for a fact..

The 4.6 engines of the same model year all used the same ignition regardless of plant origin. In 2000 the 4.6 got th COP ignition. If you are staying with the same displacement then changing model year will not matter as the base engine has not changed. Take the current ignition that is in the truck and bolt it on to the new engine. The only concern would be the flex plate or crank. Windsor has 8 bolts and Romeo has 6. If you are going from a 5.4 to a 4.6 IMHO you are nuts. If you are going from a 4.6 to a 5.4 that is not as hard as it would seem but it will involve more than the ignition.

Oh sorry I got a 4.6l windsor...lol I might be stupid but I still wouldnt go from a 5.4 to a 4.6. So u say the romeo isnt that hard to switch out..hmmmm....The parts are so much cheaper. I called ford and they wanted 2500 for a reman windsor but like 1800 for a reman romeo....I would go with a 5.4 but I dont want to mess with two many wires....

Just make sure that the Romeo is for a truck and not a car and that it comes with a flexplate. The Windsor flexplate will not bolt up to the Romeo.
