Anyone No where I can order ?

Anyone No where I can order a new dipstick tube for a 98 5.4L?

Or do I have to go to the dealership, salvage yard.. I'de rather just order it online - Rock Auto or Autoparts Wharehouse don't carry - no one does online that I can find..

Thanx for looking, that's cool - I bought a universal one before I got the 4six one - didn't like it , cheap lookin and flimsy so I'm lookin for the stock one.

I'll prolly just hit up the salvage yard - my old one rusted where it connects to the manifold and broke in two..

Thanx for tryin..

Exclamation Always at that spot

They seem to break right at that spot, I think a re-design should be in order what do you think jbrew?

Very much so, I'll tell yuh why . - Before I figured out what was going on , a hole was created due to rust just below the fastener in the tube behind the manifold . I wasn't visible . I'm not sure how long that hole was there ,about 6 months If I had to guess... At times prior to me realizing the problem, when checking my oil I would notice chunks of gravel , little stones and dirt on the dipstick when checking the oil. I thought maybe I rubbed the dipstick on something in the engine compartment when pulling it from the tube , so, I would check it again after cleaning off the stick . I know now that sh^t went threw the rust hole..

I just wonder how much sh^t went threw the inside of my motor before the problem was realized. I wonder how much this shortened my engines life..??

Since 1998 I carefully maintained my vehicle. Right now I can't tell if this did any damage or not. I think about it all the frickin time tho..I can't believe this happened..I don't blame the manufacture, it just sucks..

So yes a "re-design" or the use of a different material anyway , like aluminum would be better..

Should not be much more than about $15 at the dealer.
I had to put one on my 02 4.6.
One day I pulled the stick and half the tube came with it.
Complete vibration crack off not rust .
This kind of problem affects the idle air just like a PCV open or cracked hose would do.
Getting the bottom part out of the pan can be a big hassle.
My tube was about an 1" too long to get in place at the pan end but there was enough there to cut off and get it to set in and fit while the tab bolts at the correct location.
It's an O ring seal into the pan.
