can't figure it out. been scratching my head long enough lets see what ya'll say.

the truck: 2002 f-150 5.4 2wd

the problem: having this damned ticking sound.not ONLY when i first crank it up, but all day long. i have electric fans, but i disconnected them for a sec to see if that was it. nope. i took it to my buddys shop and they hit it with a stethoscope and said it sounded like it was coming from behind the timing chain cover. I had that thing replaced 1 year ago BY ford. what do you guys think the ticking is? bad lifter?

also, think while i'm having it down i should throw cams and springs in it? i got some custom grinds from comp but just have been waiting on a good time to do it.

 

well, took it to the shop and they took a stethascope to it. it's coming from behind the timing chain cover. any suggestions?

 

Turn up the radio!

 

Sounds like its the timing chains. Pull the timing chain cover off and take a look. Mark your bolts as to what hole they came out of when you pull the cover.
