Question 5.4 problems, please help

my 99 5.4 4x4 started not starting. it will turn over but not start. i must keep my foot on the gas to get it to stay alive and sometimes if im lucky, about 10 min later it will start running smooth and on its own. a ticking noise under the hood started bout the same time. ive checked the IAC and all fuses. all fine. also no CEL. the only thing is that the coolant/oil pressure combo light illuminates when the key is in ON position and the emergency brake light doesnt appear in any condidtion. reseting the battery didnt help either. the oil level is fine and so is the coolant level. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Have you put a scanner on it to see if you have a pending code?

maybe check your crank sensor i had to replace mine once and it would make my engine run crappy until i got up to speed. i actually could crank it and it would work sometimes and then it would act up later go figure. hope this gives you another avenue to your cure good luck.

Just FYI, I had an 03 4.6L F-150 with a similar problem. Ford ended up replacing my PCM under my ESP. They reprogramed my truck and all was well again. They said it was due to a windsheild leak that they also repaired. Resealed my entire windshield. Don't know if that is your problem, but I thought it was worth sharing. Good luck.

Good point, most likely it is a code or a sensor and you might have to get it resetted or more.
