I did a quick search, but didn't really find what I'm looking for. I have a '98 F150 4.6 with the remote oil filter. In my manual, it lists the capacity as 6 quarts, however, when I changed the oil the other day, 6 quarts didn't even show up on the dipstick after running the engine to fill up the filter and remote lines. It took another full quart to bring the level up to the full mark.

Is the capacity for this engine with the remote filter really 7 quarts, or am I just crazy?

 

I have a '99 w/the 4.6 and 6 quarts always works for me. I'm not sure what your problem could be to be honest.

 

I have a 97 with the 4.6 and I also have a remote filter (under drivers side front fender. It takes me about 6.5 qts to fill it back up, you are fine

 

98 ford ,it took 6.5 quarts to bring mine as well up to the full line
