Hard to start when warm 5.4L.

My 2005 5.4L(56k miles) is getting harder to start when it is warm. It takes a couple cranks to get it to go. When it does, it sounds like a diesel starting for second. I Have a good battery, fuel filter etc. Any ideas?

Have you ever added fuel injector cleaner to the gas tank ?
Have you ever reset the pcm ?
Have you ever checked the cleanliness of the throttle body ?
Just my $.02

Reset the PCM a few times. Added injector fluid twice recently. Have not checked the throttle body.

Most likley your IAC is hanging up, but if your running a K&N and haven't cleaned the MAF in awhile, that could be the cause..

I have cleaned MAF before, but not the IAC. Can you tell me where this is located? Thanks.

It's right behind the throttle body elbow. I don't think they changed locations on the 2005. Someone else will have to confirm , I'm pretty sure that the 2005 is in the same local as the 03's. You can see some of it back by the firewall in the one pic.

Starter terminal wiring, perhaps?

Here's another possibility: https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...32#post2392132 Check out the posts by Stragum in this thread.

Ford issued a TSB (TSB 06-19-14 NO CRANK/ STARTER TERMINAL FATIGUE) to address a problem that sounds similar to yours. It consists of a new starter terminal wiring pigtail kit that replaces the terminal connection to the starter.

sounds like low oil pressure. what oil weight do u use and u might need to check see if its sludged up. if it sounds like a diesel once u get it started.

I have a 2005 5.4L also I changed my oil the other day and a glob of sludge fell out. If you change your oil check it as it comes out.To tell you the truth thats the first time I ever seen that and it pist me off all my other trucks never did that before.

0W30 Amsoil is a proven premium oil and I highly doubt it's the cause of this issue.
