F150 motor problems PLEASE HELP

1994 F150 302 idles fine in park. Once put into gear the engine shakes and there is no power. Is also backfiring through the throddle body. Please help if you can, my brother has to report for duty on the 6th and needs to drive this truck. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The only way I know that you would get backfiring through the intake is for an intake valve to be open when a cylinder/plug fires.

Like already said it has to be some sort of timing problem, one of which would be an incorrect firing order.

My dad put an F250 302 engine in the truck. The manual says to use the firing order 13726548, but I have seen the order 15426378 being used. But this second order was supposed to be used on engines prior to '93. So in the morning my dad is going to check the second order. He also took off the tps and it was covered in oil. So he's going to replace that too.

What year was the donor F250? Follow the base timing procedure printed on your emissions sticker. You should have this sticker on there, too.

I meant to include the year, sorry. He said he got the engine from a 95 F250. He said the sticker under hood gave the first firing order.

Use this, precisely. Read the caption, & click the image again to zoom in.

Dad said he had that exact firing order. He was positive that it was correct. When I told him about the other firing order he said that it was for older models. Thank you so much for your help!
