Newbie Few ? about engine swap

I have been reading here a while which has helped allot. The 4.6 in my 97 F150 4X4 burned all the valves awhile back when the mas went waco. after having that repaired for $3000.00 two months later blew an oil line running out of oil now lifters are noisy and low compression on couple of cylinders. would like to put in a 5.4. From what I have read this is easy to do.
Now for Questions.
1 what is a PI engine.

2 where is a good place to get the comp reprogrammed and do you have to send it to them.

3 do the 2002 5.4 s have the heads threaded all the way for the plugs.

4 How about Motor mounts and such.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Everything will bolt in a fit just fine, the exhaust may have to be modified a little, but for the tuning, call mike troyer, www.troyerperformance.com, he will give you a tune through an XCAL II. I thnk its 03 and up that have the full length threads.

Could you just use a Super Chip tuner and tune it your self? also which Year engine would be the best in Your opinion. You guys are giving me the itch to mod alittle.

Not with a superchips tuner. You need custom tuning from mike troyer... You could do it your self, but you have to know what your doing, which im not saying you dont, but its something that even I wont try... Ill leave that to the pro. I would look for an 03 or 04.

oh, the plug threads were updated in 2003 but you could just put timesert inserts in when you have the replacement engine out. these would be stronger anyways.

yep from 99+, that is why i think you should get an 03 or 04 due to the better spark plug holes

Radiator should be fine, but an upgrade wouldnt hurt if you go with a lightning engine.

Found this 3 hours away
(5.4L, AOD, 2-03, W, EGR, 185-200), Rating A which sounds like under 45000 mile for $1800.00 will probably be able to check on Tuesday. Dont Know what all the Numbers mean but have an E-mail in to them to find out.
What do you think.
