K&N air filter/ reprogaming needed?

K&N air filter/ reprogaming needed?

I have installed a K&N air filter on my 06 screw. My question is do I have to disconnect the battery to reprogram the computer , and for how long??? And do I have to have a code # ????? Thanks ,4570sharpshooter

if you get a check engine light then you can try unplugging the GEM fuse (dont know the exact location). that does the same thing as disconnecting the battery without resetting your radio and all that.

usually an air filter will not cause problems but with the newer trucks they can confuse the air meter.

Cheif, I appreciate the reply. I was told that the computer needed reprograming after you installed the K&N to reset for the new airflow. Thanks

I don't see why someone would recommend resetting it just for a filter element. The computers adaptive strategy will make the necessary changes.
