1997 4.6 R7R time?

Does anyone know the labor time on R&R of a 4.6 in a 1997 f150 with a 4.6.
I am planning to replace my head gasket leaker with a 7000 mile engine out of a roll over. A guy near me wants 1600.00, seems steep.

I was told it's an 8 hour job. So with fluids and misc. stuff, about half what you were quoted?

Call a few dealers and one will give you the allowed time. Prices will vary! I just had my windstar fixed. Dealer one $2520 dealer 2 $3317. And yes same job and materials!!

Does that include the cost of the engine? What is your guy's hourly rate?

R&R is anywhere from 12 to 16 hours depending on what transmission it's got in it and if it's two or four wheel drive. If I were working on it, I'd add a little contingency time in, maybe another hour or two, for "stuff happens" (broken/stripped bolts, etc.)
