4.6L check engine light flashing and steady
yesterday i had my 97 f-150 in the garage running to warm up before i went to work. When I got in the truck i noticed the check engine light was flashing and then it stopped flashing and is now on steady. It is a 97 with the 4.6L, is there any way to manually check the codes or so i have to take it somewhere to be checked.

Pulling codes requires the usage of a scan tool. Many chain auto parts stores will read it for free.
Take it there, ask them to read the codes, WRITE DOWN THE CODES, and come back here. Do NOT let the monkeys at the parts store try to diagnose the fault.
A flashing CEL is usually indicative of a severe misfire, one that can damage the converters. Do not delay in resolving this fault.

Actually that's a good sign - I've never heard of one flashing and not stopping - either your PCM fluked or like steve said - it's a bad one . Make sure you write the numbers down , even if you have to get over his shoulder. That's very important..Steve's good at this stuff, so liston..
