I think there's a little more to it than that. The whole suspension, wheels and tires, more frame, rear end options, etc.

Yep everything f151 said plus

3in wide leafs vs. 2 1/2 and more of them
Rear axle- 10.25 vs. 9.75
Front axle- dana 50 I believe
Brakes
Can tow a lot more
Higher payload

This is pre 05 also, as in 05 they upgraded the axle and suspension even more.

It depends which style. The 97-03 f150's also had a light duty F250 with 7 lug axles, better trans and some other minor changes, but was a F150 body. In 01 or 02 they dropped the F250 light duty name and called it the F150 7700lb. option.

And, a friends super duty 2000 F250 w/5.4 has 200 lbs. less towing capacity than my 2002 5.4 F150 as per each of our owner's manuals and 4wd and rear gear numbering. I'm not saying I'd want to tow all the time with my 150, but the factory rates them differernt.
