Modular

I'm not a Ford tech but I either read in a magazine or saw it on an auto show that the work "modular" has to deal with how Ford casts the engine blocks.
From what I remember, they use the same modules but add an extra 2 cylinders for the V10 and take 2 away for the V6. I want to say it was on the speed channel where I saw it.

It generally is used to describe the adaptive assembly line, like mentioned earlier, that a few models of engines can be produced on the same line. We have all necessary stock on hand for model changes at our plant. Computer logic is adaptive and ready to go. Going through all kinds of classes at work, the plant that makes the 3v 5.4L in Windsor, I've learned all kinds of useless info, like acronyms.
