The Ford parts catalog uses identical part numbers for those 2 years.

How does 99 cams compare to 01 5.4 expedition cams? Im building 1 motor from parts of 2. Cams have different end on them. 99 cams I have has hex pointed holes in end. 01 motor cams I need to use have d shaped hole in back end.

Go to tascaparts.com, select a vehicle, go to Engine, Engine Parts. You will see the camshafts along with part numbers. The 2001 SOHC 5.4 cams are the same part numbers as the 98 and 99. Why are they different? I have no idea. Note that the 4.6 Windsor cams are the same, but the 4.6 Romeos are not.

No, they are different. That's what I said.
