tps sensor

Does anyone know how to check a tps sensor on a 1993 f-150 with a 302 and a e40d trany. I think that mine is going bad and the book that I have is very vague. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Use a volt meter to check the voltage between the green wire of the TPS and a good ground (preferably battery NEG , but the intake will do).

The voltage should be .9 to 1.1v with the key on and the engine off...and progress slowly and smoothly to 4.5-5.5v when you open the throttle to WOT slowly and smoothly.

If the voltage isn't in range with the throttle closed, then you can adjust it...if there is a drop-out or spike in the voltage as you open the throttle...then it's bad.
