Just turned over 123000 miles yesterday. Passenger power window busted, power locks busted, check engine light on, plenty of bumps and scrapes, but damn it runs fine and still gets better gas mileage than it's supposed to (not that that's saying much )!

Just signed up today and thought I'd post here. '93 F150 4x4 XLT 5.8L Winsor motor/E4OD just rolled over 143,000 miles today. Still solid, still pulling, and looking forward to many more trouble-free miles ahead.

It's interesting that in this very long thread, there are individuals with 4.9. 4.2, 4.6 & 5.4's that have gotten over 230,000 using regular motor oil and changed it every 5000-7000 miles. Even though synthetic is better, maybe it's not really necessary for going a long ways?

Other than that, it is the way Ford put it together It uses a little oil and has PS when cold, but it does squeek and rattle less than my brothers 99 GMC.

i am in same catagory as you im at about 225,000 on my 97 4.6 f 150
burns no oil and runs strong i do my oil about every 4000 or so miles
and use quaker state syn blend

DING DING DING DING!!! WE HAVE A WINNER! These are trucks, not high performance sports cars. My truck gets the dino lube (Castrol GTX 5dubya30) changed every 3000 miles on the dot. I could probably make it go longer, but why?

I use aircraft engine oil from my late fathers stock, I figure since:

1) It's free

2) It's made for air cooled, normally aspirated piston engines that run much higher octane fuel than barney so it should protect my engine just fine.

3) I've heard synthetic is a waste of time for engines over 100K, I'm on 114K

4) It's free

Thumbs up I'm there!

I'm at the office, my trucks at home (had to get the wife's car serviced on way into work), but I know my 2000 SCAB 5.4 is well over 100k. The most major thing I had to do to it was putting a helicoil in one of the plug holes. Next to that, just brakes, tires, and oil. BTW I don't get around to changing my oil very often, but she's still runnin like a champ.
