I have a 1987 XLT, 5.0, 1/2T LWB with 283,000 on it. It is all original, never even had the heads off of it. I had the trans repaired at 225,000, and the tech told me it was the ORIGINAL (proof = something about a dipstick plug during the OEM install). Got a few minor problems with it now, but still original and still running the highways and biways of Middle Tennessee!

185K

I have a 1988 SB 4X4 with 185K and change on my 5.8L. I have had many "old" Fords and this is the best yet. I have been out all morning doing my preventive maint on it .No leaks and I get 6Qts out when I put 6 in. I have just changes to Castroil Synth/Blend 10-30. I am looking forward to another 100K of 351ci power.

I guess i would qualify for the 100,000 club twice too. My 97 f-150 is at 205,000 and still going strong. The best part is its a v-6, the motor thats notorious for not lasting longer than 60k. Hey is there anyone out there with as many miles on their 97 4.2L? it would be great to know im not the only one running high miles on this engine. Thanks.

You think it might be the tires? do you have all terrains or mud grips? if so you may be getting some cupping. try to rotate the tires. depending on the type. not sure this will work, but i have heard people talk about this before.

119,000 miles on my '97 XLT Extended cab 4.6L. Still running strong. The only problem I've had with is was a faulty cruz control servo about 2 yrs ago. I had cruz control on @ 75 mph one night on the freeway. The throttle stuck wide open. I had to shift to neutral, turn off engine, tow to dealer. Dealer wanted $600.00 to replace the servo. I still have no cruz control.

Rotate the tire and it should go away had the same noise. if not its most likely the bearing assembly.

I would not go without cruise, for any cost. It's right there on the the fender, and that part is about $150-$170, somewhere in that range
That dealer was trying to pull something. My servo was replaced for about $360 parts and labor.,,,,98

175,000 kms (105,000 Miles) on my '97 F-150.... here's the "non-regular maintenance" work that has had to be done since 97 and the cost (in CDN $):

Rear-End gasket replaced ($85.00 total parts and labour)
4X4 Actuator Pump ($150.00 parts and labour)
Starter Wire Connector Replaced 3 times ($85.00 total each time)
Alternator ($350.00 total)
1 Battery ($100.00)
2 Sets of Front Brakes
1 Set of Rear Brakes
1 Exhaust system (waited for factory to rust out before switching)
All Fluids Synthetic since Break in Period and changed to MFG Specs.

OOPS, forgot 3rd set of Michelins too

Here is what I am running:

97 F-150 XL (X-Door) 4X4 Off-Road
4.6L
Dual Flowmasters (Custom Bent 3" Pipes)
Throttle Body Spacer Kit
Westin PushBar
Westin Step Bars

Just turned 100,000 on my 98 150. Still running strong

One alternator, two sets of front breaks

Still got the original tires, longest wearing tires I ever owned!

I have a 93 4.9 that has 275,000 on the original engine. Runs great, drips a little oil and just keeps on going. The 4.9 straight six rocks!!

Actually, it ran great until someone turned in front of me. The engine was still running fine but the rest of the truck wasn't so happy. I'm driving a '97 now with 106,000 on a 4.6. Runs great too.
