Coil pack replacement

Hey guys, not that the cooler weather is starting to hit DFW, I'm looking at replacing my coil pack, as it has not been touched since I got the truck in '04, and probably not before then either.

I have been noticing a hesitation to start after she has been sitting awhile and after cold nights. I replaced the plugs and wires about 15-20k miles ago, and have heard many of y'all mention the pack on numerous occasions.

Question is, is it a one man replacement job? and should I just get a Motorcraft pack from an auto store or go for something more performance based? (engine mods include K&N 77 series, si/do magnaflow, and VMP custom tunes)

if you get them i can help you put them in the weekend i come up there but yes its a one man job, and as far as brand i would say just stick to the motorcraft

That's what I was thinking. I was probably gonna do it this weekend and just utilize either the parking garage, or my g/f's garage. Just have to fit it around going to the state fair, my birthday dinner, and homework.

I will let you know if I decide to wait.

Rock Auto has the Motorcraft coil pack for $72.79, and none of their aftermarket coils are any cheaper.

Thanks. I'm goingto swing by the local O'Reillys today after class and see how much both motorcraft packs they have are. I'm hoping I can pick this sucker up and swap it out tonight.

So sorry Taylor, but it looks like we will have to find something else to mess with now.

Yeah, I won't.

I ordered a coil pack from Tasca Ford yesterday for $77.83 shipped. Just need to get some grease and I'm good to go.

Hey glc, what size are the injectors on these engine? I'm wanting to say 19 #, but I'm just guessing.....

Anyone know what would be causing this noise from my engine?

I've heard lifters, injectors, and at certain times I'm wanting to think exhaust leak....

Ok. I guess I can look around for some. But what brands would I look for? Do I need to try and find Motorcraft injectors (if they exist), or looks for a aftermarket company?

Rock Auto has new Motorcrafts for $47.99, all other brands are MORE expensive except some remans for $30.79.

Well I checked Tasca Ford, and theirs were $44, but I talked to Patman and he said he can sonic clean them for me at work, which is fine with me.

BTW, I got the coil pack too from Tasca for $77.83 ($66.83 + $10).

in your video, the ticking sound sounds like my truck did right before the spark plug blew out of the head.
