Need Help Identifying a Noise

Hey Guys,

My 97 F150 4.2L is all of sudden making a very loud whine/moan type sound
which seems to come from the top of the motor.

The sound is affected by turning on the air conditioner or a higher rpm seems to cause it to dissipate.

It doesn't fully go away but the sudden rpm change does seem to affect it directly.

Besides that everything else looks good and there is no indication of a water
pump or a/c unit going out.

Was hoping someone might have had a similar problem or an idea what might
be causing the sound. It is very annoying and clearly audible to everyone
inside or outside of the truck.

Thanks,

Mike

Haven't had this problem, but sounds like a bad pulley. I would start with checking the tensioner pulley. Good luck.
