Still at it i'm afraid.

Well the good news is the check engine light works ,wont go off unfortunatly. I put in the lower intake manifold gasket ,which was not so bad of a job. Both front cylinders were in fact leaking. It's back together and still running terrible, missing.I have to put it on a good tester as the cheap ones are telling me it could be 100 or so diffrent things. My local ford dealer will put it on machine for 82 dollars.Probably worth the money.

The code auto zone gave me was a po171 which could these problems be according to their paper.
1) if bank one and 2 codes set together suspect fuel pressure or maf (mass air flow) sensor.
2).oxygen sensor defective.
3).Ignition misfire-repair.
4).fuel injector problem.

The problem was on both banks.
this is my original thread.

A couple of things going on here.

Both banks? Yes, it could be low fuel pressure or bad MAF. It could also be (and USUALLY is) a vacuum leak. If you are using an oiled air filter, I bet the MAF may be dirty.

Can I clean a maf or does it need replaced ?. what could cause low fuel pressure, plugged filter ,bad injectors ? other than hearing air leaking ,"which I can't" can I test this thing to see if there is a leak?

You can clean the MAF with CRC MAF Cleaner. Spray the fine wires, do NOT physically touch them.

Most common place for a vacuum leak - follow the PCV valve hose back to the manifold. Examine it for cracks and feel it for rotten areas.

Well this is not getting much better. After cleaning the maf sensor I left the battery off for a day or so.The check engine light came back on after 63 miles and soon began to blink.I have also noticed that sometimes setting at a light that the idle will slow and the oil pressure will drop enough for the light to go on,Plenty of new oil in this thing.I ran a compression check and had between 160 to 180.I parked it tonite after the blinking started until I can check online and see what the blinking is all about.I guess I will drive the dodge tomorrow.

You may have a bad driver's side front O2 sensor. The other 2 are cylinders missing, back passenger side and front driver's side. Passenger side is reporting lean.

I hate to recommend you just throw parts at it, but you need to verify your plugs, wires, and coil pack are all good, and I'd probably replace both front O2's.

Well I think I now know where my vacuum leak is, being half deaf does not help.Sitting in my truck just driving along I hear a low hissing sound I just thought it was the heater going or something but today I noticed when I touched the brakes it changed tone. Here it is where the brake rod goes into the back of the brake booster.I stopped at 2 parts stores to get the part and they are telling me that the only way to get this part is by buying a new brake booster. Shouldn't I be able to put some lube on it or something ? I can't tell if this has some sort of dust cover on it or if what I am seeing is the actual part.

A remanufactured booster is only about 65 bucks from rockauto.com.

Well I have all but the 2 misfire codes worked out.Replacing the brake booster took care of the 171 code, I have also replaced both the front 02 sensors.I guess the thing to do now would be the check coil pack.It has new plugs and wires.
