Your transmission couldn't handle the power if you are talking about a coyote. the rear is too small too, an 8.8 when you need a 9.75. Trade trucks.

Are you talking about an old 302 or the new Coyote 5.0?

Engine, transmission, complete rear assembly, and computer controls and someone smart enough to make it all work would make it too expensive to even think about unless you have money to burn.

A 302 is a much easier swap, it will bolt to your transmission and your rear and trans can handle it unless you modify the engine substantially. There will be electronic issues though.

My question is why? A 4.2 is just as powerful as a stock 302.

Modifying it with a stock 302 isn't going to do much of anything for you. Modifying it with a built 302 is going to be rough on the tranny and the rear.

New to the Swap and Forum Hello from the Boarderland

Hi. I'm doing the 302 swap from a 99 2wd 4.2 because the 4.2 blew gaskets and I don't want to drop the same problem back into it. The swap will be a great father and son project and coming up soon.
Question from you knowlegable folks: I got a line on a complete E150 Van 302 5.0 with all the electronics and just wanted to know if there is anything particular to the Van layout that I should be aware/concerned about.

Thanks for all your posts, been a great help!
