2012 F150 Ecoboost Vacuum Pump Grinding Buzzing Noise

Anybody else hear a grinding or buzzing noise on the driver's side?
Right after cold start, stepping on the brake, putting it in reverse?
Sounds like it's coming from under the air filter?
It's the vacuum pump.

Motorcraft Part # BRPV10
Amazon $339.71
RockAuto $341.79

Is this part covered under warranty?

I have a video. Look and listen.

a bad vacuum pump should be covered under warranty...

... but is it bad or is that the normal noise? (I'm not sure)

My 2011 Ecoboost with 44,000 miles is making the same noise as that in the video clip. I believe my dad's 2012 Ecoboost with similar mileage is also making that noise. Does anyone know if there was a bad batch of these vacuum pumps, or is this something we're going to have to deal with every 40K miles due to a poor design?

I have the same thing happening with my 2011. Thanks for posting this. Even my mechanic was wondering what the sound was. I'll be contacting the dealer now for sure.

2912 F150 ecoboost

We had the brake booster vacuum pump replaced at 16k miles (dealer under warranty) and now two years later at 65k needs replacing again. Can we rebuild in the backyard shop?

This pump needs a filter so salt dust from the road salt doesn't get into it. Poor Design and location in the truck!

Maybe we could move the location of the pump, higher up and enclose the pump completely with clean air drawn from the filtered engine air inlet. It looks as though the inlet air for these pumps comes from small holes in the end caps. Why would a designer ......? and get paid for it?

I just removed the culprit, can/cannot we operate the vehicle with the pump as removed? It could be extra parts?? and not really needed?

just my .02
