hello

i have a 86 f150 and it just randomly died on me. i was able to jump it off and get it home

i have changed the battery and the ignition switch but it still wont do anything at all. even opening the doors it wont beep.

any help is apreciated

I wasn't aware that they used a V-6 in 1986. You would get better help in the pre-1997 truck forum, this forum is for 1997 and newer V-6 engines.

 

You've got a dirty connection or bad cable somewhere. Beings jumping it off worked, I would guess a dirty connection. If you didn't clean the inside of the cables good where they hook onto the battery posts, when you installed the new battery, it could be there. Follow the cable that hooks onto the negative battery post and clean the connection(s) where it grounds. Also make sure the connection where all the cables hook together on the solenoid with the positive battery cable is clean and tight.
