Smile EcoBoost front license plate

Hi every one, I`m new in the forum and I live in Chile, South America, so I´m wondering your help in some issue.

I´m just buying a 2013 Platinum with EcoBoost V6 3.5 L and I have a design conflict with the off set front license plate location for the intercooler air flow provide. So I reserched the internet and found that a lot of distributors in U.S. offer the Platinum with the license plate at the center. In fact, there are a lot of accessories and autoparts for that.

So I ask you if this is technically feasible and if anyone can tell me about good or bad experiences with the intercooler air flow or malfunction.

Thank you.

Yes it is possible to swap the bumper caps and add a bracket however; Ford is already have issues with the intercooler as is, I wouldn't want to do anything to block the airflow, or make the symptoms worse

It is believed that they have solved the problem on the 2013s, I think. The problem is with the 2011 and 2012 trucks. Check some of the threads in this forum concering the issue. The V6 forum.

The way I see it, Ford spent money to relocate the tag on only the EB trucks. Any unique change to a product produced in the quantity of an F-150 is a lot of money. If the engineers at Ford think it needs to be moved it probably does. I would take their opinion over that of some guy on the internet.

if I had an Ecotooter....I'd leave right where it is....imo

I even relocated the plate out of the way of the intercooler on my supercharged truck....the more air these intercoolers get the better running these trucks are....

An other thing.

Do you know which is the widest tire that can be used on the Platinum with the stock wheels (20" x 8.5j ??)?.

Stock: 275/55R20
For example: 305/55 or 50 R20 - 315/50R20

Is necessary to change the wheels?

Look two doors down in the wheels, tires and brakes section. Those guys will tell you all you need to know.

Don't block the opening of the inner cooler. They offset it for a reason. Just because you don't like, doesn't mean you should change it. I wouldn't do it.
You will get used to it.

100 percent agree with the other members here. DO NOT move the plate. If you move and block air flow you are just asking for frequest trips to your local service center.
