Dyno Pulls with AFE stg 2 Intake and SCT 93 octane tune

Ok let me start....These Dynos were done on dynojet Dyno. On the same day, intakes were swapped out in between runs as well as the tune was changed between runs.

I was surprised by the results and still not real sure what to say with regards to the actual numbers. My truck would kick out on the stock tune at 4750 rpm, it did that on 4 different pulls in 4th gear. Not sure if it was a speed limiter or traction control. The Hp was still climbing so Id be curious to see if the results would have been different for the intake in the higher rpms.

I still love my AFE intake and think it allows the truck to breathe a lot better, but doesn't show the gains I thought. It was also very difficult to start pulls lower then 2000-2500, the truck would again to some odd things.

But these results show some interesting things.

Each graph is labels for each run with a combined graph at the end.

I'm not surprised by the near identical numbers for the intake only mod. Maybe someone can explain to me why a boosted engine regulated by waste gates would benefit from a cai? I don't get it...... Someone teach me.

Holy .... look at the torque increase.. you need a custom tune over canned tune

Legit

This should answer a few questions for some mod-hungry EB fans. I'd like to see these numbers stuck against a cat-back as well

Sometimes with the newer ECU's out there the computer has yet to realize and adjust to new modifications. seems a bit far fetched for AFE to throw out substantial gains in power when attaching their CAI to you EB only to see a 1whp gain...

I would also like to know if the SCT flash had accounted for the CAI durring the dyno run. might have gotten more whp & tq if it was tunned for it.

Either way

I've been emailing a performance shop close to home and one thing he pretty much made clear....a CAI is not worth the money you spend on them, basically don't bother.
I'm leaning towards the SCT,but will probably get a few custom tunes done....it all costs unfortunately!
Now I just gotta figure out if I really want to keep the 4" cat back back on...

Good info OP! I'm thinking a catless DP will be much more beneficial in terms of linear power. The intake craze seems to be dying down as more information like this is released.

Got to love the EB's flat and wide torque curve, stock or modified.

Great results from the tune and thanks for posting the charts.

I wonder what independent synthetic cone filters run independently on their own to a turbo with a ballance tube would add? Still believe there is a hang up with the 360 degree big and smaller 90 degree elbow of the stock tubes connected to the turbos? Air does some wierd things when it divides flow, slams into the wall/looses enertia changing direction slightly, in different sizes of the tubes?

Thanks for posting this info... decent gains for the investment. I am a tad disappointed with the AFE only numbers...

Great gain on the tune, now I want to dyno mine hahahaah. Not surprised by the intake without tune number, everyone says you need to tune after the intake or exhaust to get anythign out of it.
