2007 Ford F150 4.2 L Miss fire

My 2007 Ford f150 has 96,200 miles is shaking and pulling around 40-60 mph. Does it the most when driving up hill. It's misfire like 4 times while driving on the highway. Weird thing is the check engine light is not on. I took it to a mechanic saying it the coil and plugs and also could need a new computer saying the thing could cost up to $2000 dollars. which is alot of money for a poor college student. IF anyone could help me with any information that can fix the problem would be a big help.
thanks.

Change the plugs. They are supposed to be done at least every 100k.

Run, do not walk, away from that shop that wants to sell you a new coil pack and computer. If you know how to use a socket wrench, you can change your own plugs in a 4.2.
