Raptor rims and tireS on an Ecoboost with 3.55 gears

Hi:

I have stock 275x65xR18 tires and wheels on my 2011 Ecoboost with 3.55 gears. I want to install the raptor rims and a 2" leveling kit. Can someone advise if the stock 315 raptor tire would work and if not what is the maximum tire size that I could run with the 3.55 gears and Ecoboost engine. I don't want to loose that much performance as well. The tire shop also carries a 285 BF all terrain tire but I like the looks of 315 better. Also, will my mpg go down more than 1 mpg??

Also can someone recommend a black 20" rim that looks similar to the raptor rim. Maybe that would look better if I need to stick to a 285 tire.

Thanks for all your help.

-Pete

There only going to be 6.7% difference in the tire sizes.....

They should work ...the only issue will be getting your speedometer recalibrated and as of right now the dealer is the only one that can do that on an ecoboost.....so to answer your question maybe you should stick with a 285 tire....

35" tires and bigger should be regeared...

Thanks. I also found a rim that I like that comes in either a 20x8.5 or 20x9 size and the dealer recommended 305x55x20 tires. Would that be a better option. Also, would it be better to go with the 20x8.5 or 20x 9 rims.

Thx, Pete

Fords oem 20" size is 275/55r20 and there would be a no recalibrating the speedo with that size.....9" width is what the rim should be.....

Thanks for much. Here is the rim i am looking at:

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand

Would you recommend the 20x8.5 or 20x9 rim. Also, right now I have 275x65x18 tires on my truck. If I went to a 275x55x20 would they be taller than the ones I have now.

Also, if I did go from a 275x65x18 to a 305x55x20 would I notice a drop in mpgs and if so how much.

Pls let me know what would be the best setup if I want to have somewhat taller tires but not lose to many mpgs??

Thanks again for all your help!

Those wheels look nice....

20x9 wheel
Yes you might lose some mpgs

The 305/55r20 will be 3.4% taller....your speedometer will still be off

thanks, So I should go with the 20x9 rims instead of the 20x8.5 if I am going to use a 2" leveling kit. Also would you stick with the 275x55x20 or go with the 305x55x20 tires if I want something a little taller than I have now

Can you also give me the height of the 305x50x20

This is getting so confusing

Thanks so much for helping me out

At least if I go with the 305x55x20 I should get a littler better mpg than the 315x70x17 right??

Yea, but after talking to some custom tuners it may be longer than I'm worth waiting for, probably going to sell my X3 since there will probably be an X4 by then lol\

..makes me wonder how BD cracked the code so early, wish there was more updates from the other companies. All I hear is "We hope soon", and "We are working on it"
