4.2 V6 performance parts

im trying to tune up my truck as much as possible ive got a performance exhaust (cherry bomb extreme 1 chamber dualed out to the back bumper) i have a k&n airfilter and i just ordered an airaid cold air intake and am looking at a jet performance chip for the truck what else can i put on it with out killing my gas mileage? ive heard good things about throttle body spacers but are they worth it? also thinking about running a true dual set up on it with the dynomax bullets or 1 chamber flows

no to the throttle body spacer, it wont do anything.

also id go for a custom tune over the jet chip imo. do you have the manual or auto trans?

Skip the Jet chip..go with custom tunes.

You can also put Efans, Under drive pulley to help get back some HP you lose through parasitic loss.

Underdrive pulleys and SCT tuner: Troyer Performance
www.troyerperformance.com

Other location for SCT Tuner: VMP Tuning
www.vmptuning.com

Another location for SCT Tuner: Power Hungry Performance
www.phptune.com

The above tuner websites are in no particular order of favorites.

x2 i have heard that only a very select few benefit from them. or so they claim...
x2 on no jet chip. SCT tuner with custom tunes seems to be the most popular for the 4.2. seems everyone i see that gets a tuner ends up getting a SCT. i am also trying to save for one with custom tunes.

a tune off the shelf will do no good for you then, most of them just mess with the shift points on the trans.

youll need a custom tune to get any benefit and they are a paper weight like you say

by the way, if you do all that stuff to your truck, you wont be getting any mpgs back....youll be to tempted to get on it at every light. i know i would
if you drive it normal tho, you should see a gain.

Contact Troyer, VMP, or PHP and discuss tuning for your truck. You really need something custom to do what you want, especially with other mods.

Manual trans here- I've got the SCT Xcal3 with my truck. custom tuned by a local Ford shop and loving every second of it. it killed me the 5 minutes i switched back to stock to see a difference

and glc, I dunno if i ever got back to you but my mpgs are about the same, maybe .5 mpg better with a 87 street tune

i HIGHLY recommend doing efans if you do UDPs. removing the fan and shroud makes work of the UDPs 100x easier and they both compliment eachother in the power department
