98 will idle fine, won't rev-up..

My Beautiful truck is down again. This time it started up fine, I let it warm up. Dropped it into Drive, and gave it some gas...and it just sputtered.

It will start up and idle fine...even in Park it will not take any gas without sputtering out....

The check engine light is on, but I don't have a scanner...Advance auto will do it for free..but I'll never get it there.

Has anyone ever run into this? It's to nice of a truck to hate

Some parts stores will let you "borrow" a code scanner - leave your credit card as security, bring it back in a reasonable period of time, no charge. Others may let you buy one and bring it back for a refund same day.

a vacuum leak/hole in the intake will usually cause you to run lean.

if unmetered air is making its way into the intake it'll be lean.

as far as being too rich thats a possibility but rich usually isnt caused by a vacuum leak (that i know of)

hopefullly he can get a scanner and tell us what it reports.

Barrowed a scanner...ended up with some shift selanoid codes..and torque convertor circuit...hopefully it's just an electrical problem within the trans.

Only thing is, why won't it rev up in park?

The Transmission guy call's me and says it started bringing up all these codes at once, and he couldn't figure why....Then He said he found a wire harness with a wire...wires... chewd or cut thru...He fixed up the wires in the harness and said it was running like a top. Said it even made the engine run better....

Anyone know anything... about something like that...What kind of wire could this be? I'm thinking chimpmonks...or rabbits..

Do you have a enclosed garage or something? How would a rabbit or something make it up in the drivetrain like that unless it was one of those wires coming out of it.
