Consider an F250 superduty
For a 6200# tow? Not necessary, but a V-6 manual trans F-150 isn't enough. A V-8 auto trans F-150 will tow it no problem.

Ok thanks for the advise. Another question though. Same dealer has a 2010 F150 XL
4.6 2 Valve V8 with 3.15 rear axle ratio. Would i be able to tow a 4700 lb cadillac and duel axel car trailer (weight of 2,000lbs)? If not, what is the max weight to tow for that truck? Hope to soon own my first Ford. Thanks for the help!

No good on that one either. It's not even rated to tow anything with 3.15 gears. It's rated at 5400# with 3.55's.

You need to look for higher end trucks - you are looking at light duty work trucks when you see a RCSB XL.

Ok thanks for the help. I have another question. Same dealer has a 2010 4.6L V8 2 Valve with 8 foot bed and 3.55 rear axle. Would this truck be able to tow a 4700lb car with a 2000lb trailer? If not, what would be the max i could tow? I hope to soon buy my first ford truck. Thanks!

Dont be a pansy. My 16' pop-up is 3200# dry, almost 4000# fully loaded. Then I have four people in the truck, a bed with a cooler full of ice, bikes, and camping equipment and a full tank of gas. My 275K mile truck handles it no problem. I tow all of that up the Smoky Mountains once a year and down to south Florida every year. Just accelerate real easy and drive like a grandma.

You are going to need a 5.4L or better to pull what you want to pull. What you want to pull is over the tow rating of my truck and I have 4.6L 2v with 3.73. You would be better off looking @ f250's

Get that truck, put in some 4.10's in the rear and it should be fine if you're gentile.

The max for that truck, as I already posted, is 5400#.

A F-250 or a 5.4 is not necessary, but it would make for an easier tow. A 09/10 F-150 with a 4.6 2V can't do it, but a 08 and earlier 4.6 may or may not be within limits for 6700#, it depends on exact configuration. You have to use the guides I linked for exact details.

Now, just to make it even more confusing, just because the rig falls under the max tow rating doesn't mean it won't exceed one of the other ratings, such as payload or GVWR.

Bottom line - to tow that rig, you can do it with a F-150, but not a base model.

I think they made 2 different towing packages on these trucks. how can you tell the difference and how much is each one capable of towing. Im guessing its a rear gear diff so do you know what numbers mean what on the rear end tag or is there an easier way.

also how hard would it be to install a tranny cooler. i do it all the time on race cars but thoes all have lines for coolers already installed. do these trannys have coolers already or is it going to be a pain

thanks
check door sticker where it says axle under it will be the code just google that code.. H9 is 3.55 limited slip
