Supercharger-04' f150 heritage
will this fit my 4.2L F150 Heritage?

Is there anything that will match the horsepower increase like an intake system? Is there a company that makes a super/turbocharger specific to my 4.2L heritage?
sorry for the stupid questions, it's just that I'm new to the car/truck mods.

Well, there is one thing that I've found out about these 4.2's, it's that as soon as you do something to soup them up, you're going to see those BIG TIME performance increases, but that usually comes with a drop in MPG. I don't know what a supercharger could do to a 4.2 in terms of mpg, but I assume it wouldn't really be pretty. I have found out that mine absolutely hates anything more than stock, but I know several 4.2's that have mods up the wazoo and don't really have any sort of drastic MPG dips, but have the performance gains.
In my case, I don't know if my MPG woes are truly because of my mods or because they estimate my transmission was failing (without any sort of visible signs whatsoever) for as many as 12-15,000 miles. There's only one thing to do - roll the dice and see what happens!!
If you get it, post pics!!!

a supercharger takes to much power to make power for our 4.2l's you could look into building a turbo setup for your truck that will give you a lot more to the wheels with the same psi as a supercharger.
i say go for it, super/turbo either way , i have a reg cab 4.2l 03 flairside with a 2/3 drop and 275/45/20's and well my gas mileage sucks *** now. ive heard of people getting excellent gas mileage with a turbo as long as you keep ur foot out of it. forced induction would help the truck get goin so much easier lot less strain on it but of course you will need to upgrade things like your injectors probably fuel pump and maf and also have a proper tune for it all.

I wouldn't turbo the 4.2, with the headgasket problems i wouldn't want to risk boosting anything into the engine. Don't know about the internals but i'm sure you'd have to do some work on them, or baby the truck and keep off it to prevent damaging something. Go with a larger vehicle, or if i may play devil's advocite spend the money on a 1990 to early (March or earlier) 1992 mitsubishi eclipse//Eagle talon. Comes turbo charged, runs about 15 second 1/4's with stock set up. Plus, you can pick up one for about $2,000 in good condition. Ok, i'll sit back and see what happens.

the headgasket problems should only be the 97 and MAYBE 98... when using forced induction on these engines its sorta tricky, its been said that the stock block of a 4.2l can handle 400hp anything higher and your risking a hell of a lot and should build the block up to handle it, im planning to turbo mine if a friend decides to sell me his kit or not... i hope to run about 7 or 8 psi which should actually help my mileage a lot.. i also plan to beef up the rear end too...
just be sure that if you use forced induction to be sure your tranny and rear end can handle it and also expect some downtime until your turbo/supercharger install has all the bugs and kinks worked out....
oh and i sure as hell wont be making 400hp with 8psi... more like 300-330 maybe higher i dont know.. but from the guys that ive talked to that have done it, there dyno sheets show that range or higher...
