engine code po443

PO443 states that purge contrlo valve in the evaporative emission control system has malfunctioned. This code deals with the fuel emmissions, I have checked for leaks, changed gas cap, any ideas.

Most likely a purge valve problem. The valve itself is located above the spare tire on the vapor canister assy. Very suseptible to the elements.

code still there

I changed the valve , reset computer, code came back. All vac lines are good, someone told me the egr valve can cause these codes for emissions to come up. Is this true and if so should I replace valve, or somehow clean it with something

P0443 indicates an electrical failure in the EVAP canister purge valve coil circuit. It is completely unrelated to the EGR system. It is also not a problem with the vacuum lines.

Most likely, it is a corroded or damage wire or connector. It is also possible that the PCM has a failure.

Here's the list of possibilities from the service CD:

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0443 indicates a failure in the EVAP canister purge valve circuit.

Possible causes:

-- VPWR circuit open.

-- EVAP canister purge valve circuit open.

-- EVAP canister purge valve circuit shorted to PWR GND.

-- EVAP canister purge valve circuit shorted to VPWR.

-- Damaged EVAP canister purge valve.

-- Damaged PCM.
The service CD has the full diagnostic procedure.
