whats the biggest I could run before regearing

so im trying to find out what I could run on my truck before having to regear, I got a sweet deal on some 33/12.50/17 baja claws and reallly wanna put them on the truck. The only mod I have done so far is flowmaster exhaust as I havent been able to find a CAI for my truck...I have a 4.2L V6 with 3.31 gears. Thanks!

I wouldn't go any bigger then 33". I ran em for a while on my 4.2L with my stock 3.55LS. I do have custom tuning however which helps quite a bit as well.

I'd also get rid of the Flowmaster - they are known for killing some low end torque. This becomes critical when you get bigger tires.

No it's not, unless you consider noisier as being better. Freer flowing exhaust by itself doesn't do much, you have to combine it with other mods.

Look at Magnaflow and Gibson.

glc is right on- I havent regeared after putting on 35's- but when I went from a flowmaster to a Magnaflow- I swear I gained back a small amount of torque.

I know some will disagree and probably the best way to confirm or negate this claim is on a dyno, but I swear I can feel it pull a bit more.

you WONT have to regear but your trans. will thank you.

Im running 36's on stock 3.55's and a 4.2 and lost ALOT of power that i didnt have to begin with.

If i was you id run the 33's on the stock gears, if you plan on going to 35's then go for some 4.56's.

Check out airforceone. Got one on mine and its great, and looks better than most.

Not saying you have to get it from troyers but the kit is out there for our trucks.

If you want more bang for the buck they have some performance packages, but only Stage 1 kits for our trucks. I have kit #3 except I didn't get the catback, I put on a Cherry Bomb Vortex kit instead. Also got the Xcal3 instead of Xcal 2 for the same price.

It won't fit, at least not the AF1 for the 97-03 model. Last I heard, AF1 was still developing one for the newer body style.
