I have a completely stock(Except K&N air filter) 1999 F150 Sport V6 and was suprised when this truck couldnt even peel out from a dead stop going up a hill! My friends 92 4 banger corsica can! What the... It will only hit 2 thousand RPMS when trying to power break also. anyway around this, can you guys peel out, how?!
Mine can't, but its a automatic, supercab with Michelin 265/70 tires.
A lot is going to depend on manual or automatic, limited slip or not, what gears, what tires and what cab (weight).
I would say a 5 speed, non-limited slip 3.55 gears reg cab with greasy stock tires would have no trouble lighting them up from a stop, but I'd rather have my truck.
Sounds like you are not too mechanically inclined. Also sounds like you should have bought a POS Corsica, like your friend. It’s a truck, not a sports car. Don't tear it up trying to keep up with the sport compact market.
when the road are wet, from a dead stop. when on dry roads, i have to be turning to squeal/bark the tires. but when it comes to powerbraking, hell yea! it will spin 'em as long as i want (ive only done it twice for about 5 seconds each...)
when your powerbraking, you have to fully stop, press the brake all the way in, and then floor the $h!t out of it!
o and i have a 01 supercab w/ K&N '77, Magnaflow SI/DO, programmer, and pirelli 255/70/16 scorpion atr's, and 3.5 (...i think)
I know this will be an "apples to oranges" comparison, as mine is a 5.4L V8.... but none the less, 1) I have 3.55 gears {which I believe should make it a bit less likely to spin the tires} 2) I went from 30" stock tires, to 33" aftermarkets, and 3) my truck has posi-traction rear end, which I believe means, if I spin them at all, I have to spin "both of them"....
And none the less, my truck has spun them on dry pavement when I wasn't even trying too !
Sounds rad.... but my truck (and my tires) cost too much to being doing that kind of stuff on purpose, so now I try to take off a little more carefully.
There must be a huge difference between Manual and auto, b/c i can pop my clutch floor it and get right on the brake and hold it for as long as id like.
mines a manual and i can catch 2nd on a good day
and straight up spin through 3rd when its wet
