I paid $8200 for my white 97 F-150 SC LWB XLT 2x4. It is loaded with the usual XLT stuff plus: Keyless entry, power seat, auto lights, rain deflectors, bug sheild, bedliner, 3.55 LS, tow package, 4.6, auto trans, and newer tires.
At the time I bought it two months ago, it had 166,000 miles. I needed to install new bearings in the alternator, free a rusted caliper slide (rusted solid, boot was ripped), replaced the greenest center cap you've ever seen, and replace the power mirror switch.
Other than that, the thing is super tight. As tight and strong as it is, I feel I can get another 100K without any major service. Only time will tell, though.
I,ve done the K&N and the airbox mod. Though I'm having throuble justifying the cost, I want Gibson exhaust to fix the exhaust exit problem and make the truck sound better.

Hmmmm... Would you consider... Ah jeez. I better not. Good thing I'm far, far, away from Oklahoma. I'd be in nothing but trouble.

Just an update. My dealer called today, April 27th is my scheduled delivery date. Can't wait. Since my Mustang crapped a fuel pump yesterday, and my scaryvan (caravan) died Saturday (computer?) . Good thing the weather is decent for the motorcycle.

JA_Stang86 - must be something going on here. less than 48 hours before i took delivery on my '99 XL (above), my '97 Wrangler's radiator disintegrated. i'm still waiting for the dealer to put the new one in. (i practically begged them to let me put it in myself. i have another post here someplace about having to tow it in with my brother's F-250.)
it seems they know when they're being replaced...
oh, '65 F-100 Custom Cab w/ 352 ci 3-speed, musty brown horse blanket upholstery w/ permanent sweat outline, Arizona work truck, 12 mpg empty or loaded to the gunnels. paid $900 (sorry, it was 1981) from three uncashed paychecks. sold to my brother & used hard until 1988. damn fine truck.

Dano:
Sounds like a nice truck. Leather or no? It sounds loaded. I was kinda suprised it was that *cheap* (definitely relative). Out here in California Chevy dealers don't seem to want to discount the Chevy's much. Anyway, I truly hope it is everything you want and expect it to be. There is nothing worse than forking over a large quantity of cash for something that turns out to be a pain in the ****; Regardless of make.
On a personal note, your posts are much friendlier and I, for one, appreciate your effort (drop the Caps and Yeehaws and they'd be "perfectly" friendly ) Before all the crap started I appreciated your posts re: your Ford problems. It's nice to get the *full* picture regardless of any negativity. I for one want to know all the good and bad things about my major purchase. Things just tend to go south when bias replaces objectivity and the personal attacks begin. Anyway, thanks again.
