Thumbs down

r6racer, they have been putting those stickers on since 2000 model year, had one on my 2000, but haven't seen one on my 01, really haven't looked.
The reason the 800 # and sticker is attached to the 4R70W trannys is due to all of the problems in the beginning of the 00 model year and it gives the techs the correct # and Ford can keep a record of all of these car trannys Ford has put in our trucks.

In other words, its a crappy transmission and Ford knows its going to have to be worked on and they want the correct figures, so for what, I don't know...???

I had one on the first transmission (4R70W)in my 01 SCrew. Had a weird vibration, took it in at 2100 miles and got a new (not reman) transmission from the factory. The new transmission doesn't have the sticker....

That's not correct.

The Orange (green, yellow, depending on model) stickers are put an all transmissions for a given time period (ussually a week or so) and these transmissions are tracked for statistical process control reasons. If a given number of those boxes fail they are analyzed to determine if it is an isolated probelm or something else, but they're put on pretty much at random and in no way indicate that anything is wrong. This has been covered here before.

Hope this helps,

G
