Angry Tranny gone at 44,000 miles!! Engine seized at 36,000 What the hell is going on?

Just got word that 4th gear is welded to the clutch. Yippee! That's what I like to hear. Before this, my engine seized at 36,000 miles and no one could explain it. Luckily that was under warranty but the tranny is not (I'm at 44k). Anybody no if these 2 things could be related to a common problem? I do all the service required at the given mileages. Just a side note, I called ford about this and they offered to pay 2,000 dollars of the 2,600 dollar cost they said it would be. Being nice or do they no they F'd up? Truck is at the dealer right now. Give me some replies! Who wants to contribute to the "new transmission fund?"

Take the deal for $600, just make sure they give you a new not Ford rebuild, I have another vehicle that had a similar problem and Ford made the same offer only the trans was a ford rebuild, it drove fine only when you let off the gas a coasted say to a light or something it wined like hell, Ford just insisted it was within a noise tolerance and refused to correct. Try and get a loaner off them, when my other vehicle had the trans replaced it took almost 3 weeks!

Sorry to hear about the troubles. Not trying to start anything here but trannies do go out and sometimes go out with little mileage on them. It's almost a fact in life. My dad had to have his rebuilt at around 55000 on his 94, and he doesn't hot rod his truck at all. He drives like grandpa in it and the truck has the towing package to it. He had it rebuilt by Amco and had a shift kit put in, still works fine till this day he is now at around 90000. I don't know maybe I could be wrong but it was general thinking that transmissions will give you trouble at some point, especailly AT's.
